Friar Park Pride in Place Programme

Friar Park in Wednesbury has been selected to receive up to £20 million of investment through the Government’s Pride in Place Programme. This is a long-term programme over the next 10 years to:

  • build stronger communities
  • create thriving places
  • empower people to have more control over local decision-making

The funding will support local improvements led by the people who live and work in the area.

To help shape this work, Sandwell Council, as the Accountable Body, is setting up a Friar Park Neighbourhood Board, and is inviting people from the Friar Park area to get involved.

The Role of the Friar Park Neighbourhood Board

The Neighbourhood Board will bring local people together to oversee the Friar Park Pride in Place Programme.

Over the next 12 months, the Board will:

  • engage with local people to find out what matters most to them
  • create a plan to improve the area, using the feedback from local people
  • decide how the money should be spent to address the priorities of local people

Who can join the Friar Park Neighbourhood Board?

Residents and people with a strong connection to Friar Park can join the Board.
The members will be local residents, young people, businesses, community groups, young people, elected councillors and the local MP.
