The Central St Michaels Sandwell Science, Engineering & Manufacturing Centre will grow West Bromwich's education hub by building a new campus on West Bromwich High Street.
This scheme is complete!
Formally known as the ‘Sandwell Civil and Mechanical Engineering Centre’, the Central St Michaels Sandwell Science, Engineering & Manufacturing Centre welcomed their first set of students to the new learning campus on High Street, West Bromwich in September 2023. This is the second West Bromwich Towns Fund project to complete.
The new learning facility will support higher and advanced level skills and qualifications for students at both Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form and Sandwell College. It will include electrical and mechanical labs, digital computer labs that will support both Building Information Modelling (BIM) software and computer aided design (CAD) along with an engineering laboratory virtual instrumentation suite (ELVIS). Also included, and a first of its kind for the Black Country, is a ‘Festo Suite’ preparing people and companies for the digital future in production and new technologies.
Works commenced on site in November 2022 and were completed in August 2023. The centre was constructed via a modular build by Portakabin.
