Retail Diversification Programme

This project aims to deliver comprehensive regeneration and transformation of the West Bromwich retail submarket through major site assembly and demolition works.

Part of the West Bromwich Towns Fund Programme, the Retail Diversification Programme project involves the acquisition and demolition of underperforming town centre sites and the relocation and refurbishment of a new indoor market.

The project will kickstart regeneration opportunities to deliver a significant number of town centre homes, improve the town’s declining retail offer, repurposing surplus accommodation and unlocking large areas of brownfield land for planned regeneration.

The project Full Business Case was approved by Government in March 2022 and the project team have since undertaken a number of activities in the background to further develop and finalise individual work packages to deliver this project.

West Bromwich Indoor Market

The new indoor market is strategically located on the High Street, next to the outdoor market, offering a centralised hub for both traditional and contemporary market experiences. This new site has replaced the old indoor market situated in King Square.

The new market blends classic market stalls with modern amenities, including a specialist street food court featuring communal seating. This design promises to create a lively atmosphere that caters to a wide range of tastes.
