  • Get Involved: Creative conversations and activities at the Urban Room, Smethwick Library

Looking for a space to connect, create, and engage in meaningful conversations? Bearwood Community Hub have created the Urban Room at Smethwick Library and they are calling all residents and community members to participate in exciting activities that will spark creativity and inspire collaboration. Whether you’re looking to explore new ideas, get involved in local projects, or simply meet new people, there’s something for everyone.

What’s Happening?
Join the Urban Room hosts for regular creative activities during term time, held every Tuesday from 10am to 5pm and Friday from 10am to 3pm until the end of March 2025. These sessions are designed to bring the community together to think, create, and contribute to shaping the future of Smethwick.

Special Events with Renowned Urban Designer Laura Alvarez
On 11 February, 28 February, and 4 March, we’ll be joined by Laura Alvarez, a renowned Urban Designer, for a series of interactive engagement activities. Together, we’ve developed a special focus on the idea of a Child Friendly City. This work is connected to Sam Harman’s Go Play Sandwell project, which aims to secure the prestigious UNICEF Child Friendly City award. Through these activities, we’ll explore how to make Smethwick a more inclusive, welcoming, and child-friendly place for all. This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and contribute to the future development of our borough.
